If you’re having ‘Game Of Thrones’ withdrawals don’t worry March is but two and half months away. Can’t wait that long ? I suggest you check out “Vikings” from History Channel. Yes, an original History production, its not all Aliens, Bigfoot and Hitler. The second series (“season” if your from the good ole USA) has just been bought by Amazon owned ‘Love Film’, and to be streamed in May 2014. Catching up on “Season” one would be a good option and available from all good online streaming sites.* The rise of the central character ‘Ragner’ played by Travis Fimmel is hearty adventure, and he is a put upon protagonist who you can easily route for given his lofty aspirations and current situation in the Viking world that Michael Hirst has crafted. A raft of fearless bearded Viking breather-in soon emerge and they cross the sea to seek gold and riches, but as you can image betrayal and heartache befall ‘Ragner’ almost from the onset. The misdirection and intertwining storylines you would expect from ‘GOT’ are some what toned down in Vikings. More like one swift hefty hammer strike of entertainment a midst sporadic Viking threesomes. Yes, apparently according to this production, Vikings shared their wives! And everything on History is true, right?

Viking Fact: “The Honey Moon” In Norse culture, historically, the groom’s father would provide the first month’s (“moon”) worth of mead- an ale made from honey. Although there is some speculation regarding this explanation, do your research.
