FOUR TO THE FLOOR – EPISODE 51

I’ve noticed a lot of people posting “You Know it’s cold when you go outside and it’s cold” Memes.  “Super Wit”, but also very true at this time of year, and I really enjoy a good woolly hat and scarf so, bonus!  I traveled back to my home town of Chepstow in Wales this week to visit my parents.  On Tuesday morning I found myself up very early and I took a little trip around some of my old haunts.  My intention was to just get a news paper, I left the house at six in the morning, but managed to drive myself to my old school. It was well before sunrise and creeply empty and silent.  I sat in the car park of Chepstow School looking out across the river Severn and the Severn Bridge watching as the sun rose.  What follows below is a set of sunrise photos taken on my I-phone of the beautiful red dawn.  A picture cliche yes indeed, but if your not a professional photographer this is the best opportunity to pretend to be one.  After the car park I decided to nip across town and around the sleepy village areas capturing some more photos of the beautiful sky.  Watching the sunrise can be a thrilling experience particularly if the conditions are right.  I was filled with elation and imbued with a feeling of empowerment, the coming day was mine. The sun’s rays shown into my vehicle and the Radio 4 breakfast show poured into my ears.  You could say I was visually stimulated and intellectual nourished, and with my I-phone in hand and later some tinkering ever so slightly with Photoshop I could pretend to be Ansel Adams.

On Thursday visitors to the Grand Canyon witnessed the natural wonder completely obscured by a total cloud inversion. The national park posted time lapse video showing the rare weather phenomenon as it moved in and shrouded the iconic landmark in a thick fog. “Almost looks like the tide coming in and going out,” someone posted to the Grand Canyon National Park’s Facebook page.
