FOUR TO THE FLOOR – EPISODE 49

A Bristol based DJ that I happen to be friends with on Facebook re-posted the new compilation album ad from @petetong.  With the letters “lol” attached to the post.  “Ok, I’m in, lets have a little look see”  I clicked the link and Pete’s face starred back at me “Classics” read the title – I rarely purchase compilation albums but what usually happens with these types of offerings is as follows, you get a smattering of older so called “classic” music mixed with newer tracks from within the last year that have been particularly popular with the newest batch of clubbers.  This compilation seemed no different from any previous release. What jumped off the page was the tirade of negative comments.  Quicker than you can say “Russel Brand backlash” the worm had turned on this newest Pete Tong selection. You can view the post here.  Although since reading  them and writing this, many comments have seemingly been deleted. When I last checked “Fuck You Pete Tong” still remained.  I am personally against this kind of negative abuse, the compilation belongs to Pete Tong and in my eyes he can do as he damn well pleases.  He also still promotes new music every Friday on his show, even if he has relocated to America to capitalise on the huge growth in the dance music scene there.  I also suspect that most people complaining about this commercial compilation still yearn for the early nighties when they were twenty, clubbing every weekend and dance music and drugs were a totally new experience for them. “Mate, mate, listen it was totally different in the old days”.  Well I’ve got news for you, it wasn’t.   Anyway if you allow yourself to be influenced by what people write on the internet it would appear that Pete has “continued” a little to far with his “Classics” compilation.

Judge for yourself and check out the “Classic” selection here!
