Once You Pop Weekly – Ep 2

Samsung feat. Kill It Kid ‘Run’

In 2007 I set up a magazine in Bristol.  Myself and two friends bought into a franchise and DV8 Bristol was born.  We covered events and music, and live gigs in the city.

I watched many bands at The Fleece, situated three doors from our office but the one that has always stuck out in my mind was Kill It Kid.  The room of barely 30 people watched this troop of musicians.  A vast array of instruments swamped the 3 foot high stage that sits prominently and allows those atop to easily command the famous Bristol venue.

Two singers male and female, a cast of other fellows replete with fiddles shakers possibly even a wash board.  I knew I was witnessing something special when I heard this band, plus the male singer has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard.  Like a horn making love to the inside of a coconut although that sounds ridiculous it some how works.

So I have watched ‘Kill It Kid’ from a-far, as they were signed to One Little Indian, promoted by the BBC, members came and went and most recently one of there tracks “Run” is being used on a Samsung advertisement, you may have seen it, but even after all this I still think they deserve more attention.

Watch and listen to more of their releases at the Kill It Kid Youtube channel.
