Four To The Floor – Episode 33

I remember a time when I was riding a train up the Yungfrow in Switzerland.  It was to be my first attempt at skiing, my family and I sat in the deathly slow train as it climbed up and past trees, rocks and green and grey landscapes that soon gave way to a light dusting of snow.  As we ascended higher the snow turns to thick dredges and the temperature drops rapidly.  We arrived at the look out summit where the world was a wash of jagged white peaks and sunshine.  Sinatra* was right the air was most definitely rarefied.  Later I remember my father strapped into skies and heading down the practice piste carving a like pro until gravity introduced him to the snow in the most unforgiving of ways.  I must have been 7 or 8 years old and my attempts at enjoying this alfresco leisure pastime ended much the same, a heap of skies and bones at the end of the run, but a smile firmly planted on my face.
