DJ Mes, Sonny Fodera – No Jet Lag EP

I was completely blown away by this track.  Becoming attracted to the little blighter while trawling through Traxsource on Saturday afternoon.  Never judge a book by it’s cover they say but in my opinion that holds little water when dance music is concerned.  The name jumped from the page “No Jet Lag” just standing there among the “I need you” and “Your Love”, how many times do we hear those.

From the outset I felt the beats we uneventful and lacked conviction, they limp along until 45 seconds in, when it all becomes clear.  I was wrong the beats are perfectly constructed as the delightful rythmic slide guitar comes rolling over the top and the vocal rasps out of the side of the singer’s American accented voice.  The relaxed beats could be just at home in your room with a mountain of weed as opposed to the dance floor.

So I searched DJ Mes, DJ Mes DJ Mes who is he?  “Housing motherfxxkers like a real estate agent” is the description on his FB page.  A line so good I only wish I had thought of it myself, I still might steal it.  He only has two thousand-ish likes on his page this tells me he is an up an coming artist with plenty more to offer but not a complete monopoly on the description.  Producing since 2004 it would appear more recently DJ Mes is getting recognition he deserves, Traxsource honored Mes with the top spot on a list of 100 best house tracks of 2011 following the release of the bumpy Chicago-sound behind “Fools Gold” (Cajual Recordings), praise indeed.  So from now on I will keep a sharp eye for DJ Mes, I only wish I had discovered his stuff a little sooner. The Second DJ in this pot is Sonny Fodera another new name for me, but it would appear I am behind the curve once again a quick search revealed he has recently done a Defected in the house CD.  Another talented producer on the rise and I will leave it up to you to search his Sound Cloud and download some quality disco-fied “free uns”
