I remember sometime in 2002 I was record shopping in Cardiff with Matt Harding, and I mean physically walking to a store and buying records. You know, ‘old skool’. \u00a0At the time me and Matt were DJ-ing and hanging out a lot buying the same records. \u00a0This could often prove a problem if we DJ-ed together as our set list was basically the same. \u00a0On this particular day Matt’s eyes nearly popped out of his head (more than normal) as the headphones clamped firmly over his ears and played a new and sublime sound. \u00a0We were at opposite ends of the record shop and his head started bobbing\u00a0manically,\u00a0 he looked in my direction and began waving his arms with\u00a0gusto\u00a0and pointed to the 12 inch black shiny\u00a0vinyl\u00a0laid perfectly on the 1210 in front of him. \u00a0Matt’s face had wrinkled into that\u00a0familiar\u00a0“this track is fucking awesome<\/span><\/a>“<\/span> pose. \u00a0I was used to seeing this facial expression at every one of our gigs so I laughed and gave him the obligatory thumbs up. \u00a0I continued lifting and placing the needle enthusiastically on my record, an action I repeated almost daily in those days. \u00a0Its funny now\u00a0because\u00a0the same movement seems alien to me, a forgotten muscle memory of an\u00a0analog\u00a0age.<\/p>\n

My point is I\u00a0deliberately\u00a0ignored Matt’s choice, even though he had so enthusiastically procured it. \u00a0I was still thinking about our record collection and how they resembled Panini Stickers<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0spares, doubles carried everywhere at social\u00a0occasions. \u00a0A fool’s decision, I had missed the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to pick up a truly great track, and to this day I am still missing a copy on Vinyl.<\/p>\n

I am\u00a0referring\u00a0to Africanism’s –\u00a0Love is the Answer.<\/p>\n

Sometimes with music people often talk about a song or group of songs representing a period in their lives, encapsulating all the happy memories and good times. \u00a0‘Love is the Answer’ is one of those tunes that is lodged within my\u00a0brain\u00a0 the sound track to so many happy times, as I listen to the track below endless visual images are at the forefront of my\u00a0consciousness, DJ gigs, festivals, long summer drives even running on the tread mill, and\u00a0finally\u00a0perhaps\u00a0most worryingly of all, Matt Harding’s mug.<\/p>\n
