It seems a little late to be discussing ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ but if you haven’t seen it yet, I suggest a trip to the cinema, or even better, read the book on which it is based. ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ is \u00a0Jordan Belfort’s “tell all” memoir of \u00a0how he built and then destroyed \u00a0the company ‘Straton Oakmount’ in the 1990’s. \u00a0This is a tale of excess and extremes. Extreme drug taking, extreme spending, extreme money laundering, lies, prostitutes and parties. Perpetuated by Jordan and his “Pump and Dump” style sale tactics. \u00a0At one point in his career he was earning almost 1 million a week and in one particular scene he refers to 100 dollar bills as ‘fun tickets’ whilst throwing them over board from his gigantic yacht. \u00a0What I find incredibly funny about the media circus surrounding this film is the reaction to Jordan’s life. \u00a0Many a film critic and commentator have written words to this effect. \u00a0“He lived a debauched life, not a nice person at all, a drug taker, a drug abuser!” With their pen hand they smite him, and with the very same hand I presume, indulge in debauched activities of their very own. \u00a0I know and have known plenty of journalists who have taken drugs, and enjoyed parties, and prostitutes, only their lives are uninteresting compared to his. \u00a0Jordan was caught. Caught red handed I might add, but still, it was with envious eyes of green I read and watched ‘The Wolf of Wall Street. \u00a0I was impressed with his ability to motivate, to lead and also inspire. Each trait enabling him to mass humongous wealth even if it was through incredibly shady stock market trades. \u00a0He was a blaggard and a bounder this is obvious, but its hard not to admire this self starter despite his flaws, a guy who lived a life most people can only dream of.<\/p>\n
